About The Organisers
Tan Tock Seng Hospital
Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) is the second largest acute care general hospital in Singapore, with specialty centres in Rehabilitation Medicine and Communicable Diseases.
Established in 1844, the hospital is named after its founder, Mr Tan Tock Seng, a Chinese entrepreneur and philanthropist.TTSH is a member of the National Healthcare Group and continues to provide high quality holistic healthcare services to the people of Singapore. After three major moves in its long and distinguished history, the 1,200-bed hospital now provides most of its services in one modern complex equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and medical equipment, as well as the latest communication and information technology tools.
TTSH attained the Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation by the Joint Commission Accreditation of Healthcare Organisations (JCAHO), USA, in August 2005, an award that represents a worldwide consensus on quality patient care.
The Department of Cardiology is made up of 15 full time consultants and provides a comprehensive range of cardiovascular diagnostic and therapeutic services. Acute cardiac care is one of its core strengths and primary PCI is the preferred method of reperfusion for STEMI. On average more than one case of primary PCI is performed everyday.
The TTSH Invasive Cardiac Laboratory is housed in a new state-of-the-art facility with 3 angiographic suites dedicated to interventional cardiology. The facility was designed by harnessing 3P (Production-Preparation-Process) and Kaizen principles to ensure a faster, safer and more efficacious management of acute STEMI. Around 3000 diagnostic procedures and 1,600 PCIs are performed annually. Transradial route is the preferred arterial access accounting for close to 90% of all PCI cases.
We hope this meeting with specific focus on primary PCI will provide an interactive and networking platform for interventional cardiologists within Asia to share their local experience and learn from one another.

Singapore Cardiac Society
The Singapore Cardiac Society was started in 1958 by a group of specialists with special interest in Cardiology working at Outram Road General Hospital. Pioneering physicians like Professors Dhanaraj, E.S. Monterio, Ernest Steven, Sir Gordon Arthur Ransome, Wong Hee Ong, Yong Nen Kiong and Dr. Charles Toh started regular clinical sessions to manage patients with cardiac diseases. The membership subsequently expanded rapidly with the addition of Drs MB Ghosh, Loh Tee Fun; and Teo Hoon Chow who had interest in the field of Paediatric Cardiology. Drs Yong Nen Kiong and Tan Ngoh Chuan joined the group in 1960 and added Cardiothoracic surgery to the group.
The Singapore Cardiac Society has made great strides in developing the practice of Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery in Singapore. With more Cardiologists, Cardiac Surgeons, Anaesthetists and Researchers from both private and institutional practice joining the Society every year, the Society looks forward to realizing the dreams of its founders in maintaining a high level of cardiac care for Singaporeans.
